• How should I store Nystan (Nystatin) Oral Suspension?

  You must store this medication away from the reach of children and pets. Also:

  • Discard the medication once its expiry date has passed
  • Store it at room temperature between 15 and 25 degrees C (59 and 77 degrees F), away from moisture, light, and heat.
  • Do not freeze it
  • Do not throw away this medicine via wastewater or household waste to protect the environment, pets, and other people.

  Consult your doctor to determine the best way to dispose of medicines.

• What to do if Nystatin Oral suspension 30ml doesn’t work for me?

  If Nystatin does not work for you, consult your doctor and he will prescribe you some alternatives such as fluconazole or itraconazole. Your doctor will also guide you to maintain good oral hygiene, avoid sugary foods, and use probiotics to restore healthy flora.  

• Is it OK to swallow Nystatin suspension?

  You can swallow Nystatin oral suspension but before swallowing it, you must hold it for 30 seconds in your mouth. In this way, it can come into contact with fungi and coat your affected areas. Moreover, follow your doctor’s advice for optimal results. 

• What should I avoid while taking Nystatin?

  While taking Nystatin, do not drink alcohol and avoid mouth irritants such as tobacco, acidic beverages, and spicy foods. Do not drink or eat immediately after taking this medicine to allow Nystatin to work properly.

  Also, do not skip the doses or stop taking this medication without your doctor’s consultation. 

• Is Nystan Safe for Babies?

  Nystan oral suspension is safe for babies when prescribed by a doctor for the treatment of oral thrush. Although it has a bad taste, most babies take it without any problem. However, you must follow your pediatrician’s instructions to avoid adverse effects. 

• How to use Nystatin oral suspension for infants?

  For infants, administer Nystatin via a dropper or syringe to ensure optimal delivery of a prescribed dose. Gently apply it inside of the gums, tongue, and cheeks and coat the affected areas.

  Do not feed or give drinks to infants immediately after taking the medicine. Also stick to your pediatrician’s instructions for better results. 

• Can Nystan Cause Allergies?

  Nystan can rarely cause allergic reactions. Its symptoms may include itching, rash, trouble breathing, or swelling. If you experience any signs of an allergic reaction, seek medical attention immediately. 

• Can Nystatin be used for skin infections?

  Nystatin oral suspension is not intended for skin infections. However, Nystatin cream or ointment is sometimes prescribed for fungal skin infections, particularly in skin folds, diaper rash, or other Candida-related conditions.

• Can Nystatin treat fungal infections in the digestive tract?

  Yes, while the oral suspension is mainly for oral thrush, Nystatin tablets can be prescribed to treat candidiasis in the esophagus, stomach, or intestines, especially when the infection is resistant to other antifungal medications.
