About Freestyle Libre 2
The FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor is the next generation of the original FreeStyle Libre sensor. For patients who require them, it provides optional glucose alarms. The FreeStyle Libre 2 system makes it possible to use optional alarms by using bluetooth technology.
By providing customizable alarms for low glucose and high glucose, the FreeStyle Libre 2 system offers a simple, user-friendly alarm experience.
Additionally, it features a technological function that alerts the user in the event of a signal loss, such as when the sensor is unable to connect to the reader.
Depending on the user's preferences, the system will either vibrate or play a sound to notify them. The user can continue to scan their FreeStyle Libre 2 sensor as often as desired to view their eight-hour history, trends, and glucose reading.
The user can act on the information to take the necessary actions as needed when it comes to decisions about medication or food based on the information presented.
If someone does not want the alarms, they can opt to leave them off so that they are not interrupted.

How It works?
The FreeStyle Libre 2 is a small sensor that helps people with diabetes continuously track their glucose levels. Instead of frequent finger-prick tests, it monitors glucose through the fluid under the skin.
It can measure glucose levels day and night to determine the impact of your diet and exercise on your blood sugar levels.
Libre 2 Sensor is designed to be positioned on the back of your upper arm. The FreeStyle Libre Reader (sold separately) is placed over the sensor to get a reading from it.
It uses a straightforward connection to validate the reading, much like how a contactless credit or debit card works.
It also functions well while being covered by clothing. As long as nothing knocks the sensor off of the arm, it can remain on for up to 14 days.
Showering or bathing is safe because the FreeStyle Libre 2 Sensor is water resistant, however extra caution might be needed.
How to apply FreeStyle Libre 2 Sensor?
When using an automatic insulin dosing system (AID), such as a closed loop or insulin suspend system, you shouldn't use the FreeStyle Libre 2 system.
Applying the Sensor:
1. Peel the cover fully off to expose the sensor pack. Remove the cap from the sensor applicator and set the cap aside.
2. Align the dark mark on the sensor applicator to the sensor pack's dark mark. On a solid surface, press down firmly on the sensor applicator until it stops.
3. When the site is prepared, lay the sensor applicator over it and press down hard to secure the sensor.
4. Check the sensor after installation. Reapply the sensor applicator's lid. Discard the used sensor pack and sensor applicator properly.

- The Freestyle Libre 2 reader (a separate handheld device), or

To scan:
Step 1: Open the App or Turn On the Reader

Step 2: Scan the Sensor
- Hold the device within 1.5 inches (4 cm) of the sensor (usually on the back of your upper arm).
- Wait for the beep or vibration, which confirms a successful scan.
- You’ll immediately see your glucose reading, trend arrow, and graph.
The Libre 2 also has optional alarms for high/low glucose levels, which can alert you without scanning.
How long is the life of each sensor?
How long can you wear the Freestyle Libre 2 sensor? Each Libre 2 sensor lasts for 14 days while maintaining good accuracy over the course of two weeks.
This makes it the longest-lasting iCGM sensor currently on the market because you only need to utilise 2 sensors to be covered for the majority of a month.
The Libre 2's durability may be just what you need if you're seeking for a simple way to track your blood sugar levels over time.
Can I shower or swim with the Freestyle Libre 2 sensor on?
Yes, you can shower and swim with the Freestyle Libre 2 sensor on, as it is water-resistant for up to 30 minutes. Warning: Avoid prolonged exposure to high-pressure water (like a strong shower) and ensure the sensor stays securely attached to your skin.
