Proctosedyl is a highly effective ointment to treat both internal and external hemorrhoids (piles), relieving pain, discomfort, and itching and reducing the size of the piles.
You can apply Proctosedyl Ointment directly to external hemorrhoids around the anal area. For internal hemorrhoids, use the plastic applicator included with each tube. Screw the applicator onto the tube for comfortable insertion into the rectum.
Proctosedyl Ointment is made in the UK by Sanofi-Aventis. It's available in a 30g tube, which includes an attachable plastic applicator and a detailed Patient information leaflet (PIL).
How does Proctosedyl Ointment work?
Proctosedyl ointment contains 2 active ingredients: Hydrocortisone and cinchocaine, which is used to treat internal haemorrhoids.
Hydrocortisone works to reduce inflammation, itching and torn skin around the anus. Cinchocaine is an anaesthetic used to relieve pain.
Combined Effect
The combined action of these two ingredients provides fast and effective relief from hemorrhoid (piles) symptoms.
However, it's important to remember that Proctosedyl is for short-term use only (not more than 7 days) and should not be considered a cure for hemorrhoids.
If symptoms persist or worsen, it's important to consult a healthcare professional for proper diagnosis and treatment.

For external application:
- Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water
- Squeeze a small amount of ointment (about the size of a pea) onto your fingertip
