How to use Mounjaro?
Mounjaro injection (Tirzepatide) is taken once weekly as an injection under the skin. You’ll typically start with a dose of 2.5 mg for the first 4 weeks, then increase to 5 mg weekly.
If needed, your dose can gradually be increased to 7.5 mg, 10 mg, 12.5 mg, and up to a maximum of 15 mg per week, depending on how your body responds.
It's important to take Mounjaro on the same day each week, with or without food, and follow your healthcare provider's instructions for any dose adjustments to ensure the best results.
What is the suggested sites for Mounjaro?
Mounjaro pens are typically injected into the abdomen or upper legs. This area provides good absorption and minimizes the risk of injection site reactions.
For the Mounjaro KwikPen, the recommended injection sites are:
- Stomach (Abdomen)
- Thigh
- Upper Arm
If you choose to inject in your abdomen, leave at least a 5cm gap from the belly button. To avoid soreness, choose a new section of skin every week, even if it's in the same area.
Mounjaro® dosage instruction
1. Initial dose: The starting dose is 2.5 mg once a week for the first 4 weeks. This helps your body adjust to the medication.
2. Dose increase: After 4 weeks, the dose is generally increased to 5 mg once a week. Depending on individual response and tolerability, the dose can be increased every 4 weeks.
3. Maximum dose: The maximum recommended dose is 15 mg once a week.

How effective is Mounjaro in weight loss management?
Mounjaro a dual GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonist, it is highly effective for weight loss, especially in people with type 2 diabetes. In a study, Mounjaro® was found to be twice as effective as Wegovy® for weight loss in those using metformin.
- Average weight loss: People typically lose 20.9% of their body weight over 36 weeks and 25.3% over 88 weeks.
- Users of Mounjaro® reported losing 20% of their initial body weight with consistent use, exercise, and diet changes.
- Many people see visible results within the first week of using Mounjaro®.
- Mounjaro® works best when combined with a healthy lifestyle, though its efficacy may vary from person to person.
Can I use Mounjaro injections for the long term?
Mounjaro is specifically made to facilitate both immediate weight reduction and sustained weight control over an extended period.
Nevertheless, the length of the treatment will be contingent upon your progress and objectives for your health.
During your online consultation, our specialists will assess your needs, discuss your goals, and develop a personalized treatment strategy.
Still, Mounjaro is frequently part of a broader strategy to maintain a healthy weight and prevent weight gain. This works best when combined with other lifestyle changes, such as eating healthier and doing more exercise.

FAQ
How much weight did individuals regain after discontinuing tirzepatide?
After the initial 36 weeks, individuals who continued taking tirzepatide experienced an additional 5% reduction in body weight over the subsequent 52 weeks.
Conversely, those who received the placebo regained 14% of their body weight.
What is type 2 diabetes?
Type 2 diabetes is a chronic condition that affects how your body regulates blood sugar. Unlike Type 1 diabetes, where the body's immune system attacks the cells that produce insulin, in Type 2 diabetes, the body either doesn't produce enough insulin or doesn't use it effectively.
Symptoms of Type 2 Diabetes:
While some people with Type 2 diabetes may experience no symptoms, common signs and symptoms include:
- Increased thirst: Feeling constantly thirsty, even after drinking fluids
- Frequent urination: Needing to urinate more often, especially at night
- Extreme hunger: Feeling hungry, even shortly after eating
- Unexplained weight loss: Losing weight without trying
- Blurred vision: Difficulty focusing
- Slow-healing sores: Cuts and bruises that take longer to heal
- Fatigue: Feeling tired and weak
- Tingling or numbness in the hands or feet: A condition called neuropathy
Complications of Type 2 Diabetes:
Untreated or poorly managed Type 2 diabetes can lead to serious health complications, including:
- Heart disease and stroke: High blood sugar can damage blood vessels and nerves, increasing the risk of heart attack, stroke, and other cardiovascular problems.
- Kidney disease: Diabetes can damage the kidneys, leading to kidney failure.
- Nerve damage (neuropathy): High blood sugar can damage nerves, causing numbness, tingling, pain, and weakness, often in the feet and legs.
- Eye damage (retinopathy): Diabetes can damage the blood vessels in the retina, leading to vision loss and blindness.
- Foot damage: Nerve damage and poor blood flow can lead to foot ulcers and infections, which may require amputation.
What happens if I stop taking Mounjaro injections?
- If you wish to discontinue taking Mounjaro, you should talk to your doctor. They might advise gradually lowering your dosage. You risk gaining back any weight you've lost if you quit Mounjaro too soon.
- This implies that you will start to feel hungry once more, and if you were taking it to control your blood sugar, your levels will probably go back to what they were before you started taking it.
- In order to prolong the duration of a lower dose, it is advisable to adhere to the prescribed dosing schedule and consult your doctor if you experience any negative effects.
Should I take Mounjaro with food?
Since Mounjaro is not taken by mouth, you can take it with or without food. Establish a routine that suits your needs.
How long does it take for Mounjaro to work?
Mounjaro should begin working right away, however it can take a few weeks for this medication to take full action. This is a result of a gradual increase in Mounjaro dosage intended to minimize unwanted effects.
What Foods Should You Avoid While Taking Mounjaro?
While no known foods have been found to interact with Mounjaro, there are several foods you should stay away from if you want the best possible outcomes. Ideally, one should refrain from:- Vegetables and fruits with a high glycaemic index, as these may elevate blood sugar levels, such as pineapple, watermelon, mango, overripe bananas, potatoes, and sweetcorn.
- Food items that are high in sugar, such as sweets, biscuits, cakes, fizzy drinks, etc.
- Fried foods, such as burgers, pizza, fries, etc. tend to have harmful fats and can increase the possibility of experiencing nausea when using Mounjaro.
Can multiple Mounjaro injections be combined to make a larger dose?
Combining multiple Mounjaro injections to create a larger dose is not recommended. There is no clinical evidence or information supporting this practice.
Eli Lilly, the manufacturer, does not provide guidance on combining multiple tirzepatide injections, as it has not been studied in clinical trials.
What is the best price for Mounjaro in the UK?
